does any body know why they changed aeris{ff7}name to aerith{kingdom hearts}.
Same reason they changed Squall to Leon. They didn't want them to have DIRECT things with the original characters.

In the japanese version of FFVII... Aeris' name is actually Aerith... They never really explained WHY they changed her name to Aeris in the US version but MY guess would be that in Japan, "Aerith" is pronounced as, "Aerisu"... So basically it comes out as "Aeris" anyways... So might as well use that, you know?
But it Kingdom Hearts they used "Aerith" again... So I guess they're getting technical now and want to use the proper name...

Thats not really correct.... If that was so, then they would have changed everyones name... Yuffie, Cid, Cloud, Wakka, etc etc....
And if you pay attention to the game... Yuffie says, "Squa- err... I mean Leon.."
My guess is when she said that, the makers of the game were just trying to give out a slight joke... Like, an inside joke just for the Final Fantasy players...

I've had this talk in 2 forums already.... I dont feel like explaining the whole thing... I'll summarize...

Its a romor that Squaresoft originally wanted to have a revival sidequest during disc 2 or 3 or something... But they trashed the idea and the only thing we got was the Aeris's ghost glitch... And in the Japanese version theres supposedly a cave entrance thats blocked off near the ancients area... near that large shell thing... Its also said that you need a gameshark for it... <_< >_>
Its just a rumor I'd say... Theres alot of things Square was going to do but changed... Like originally Tifa and Aeris were supposed to be one person... But they made two people instead and added a love triangle... =P
Its all int eh past now anyways... theres no going back... The story of FFVII isnt going to change...
Love triangles are great. But yeah, Aerith was the name in the japanese version. When I played FF7 I always changed it to Aerith. Runs off the tongue better.
