im gonna go with squall. i personally think he is a much better character than cloud. but that could have something to do with the fact that i have never played ff VII all the way through.

That may have a little something to do with it. I have played both games through and it was difficult to choose who would win. But just for the fact that I like FF7 more is the fact that I chose Cloud more or less.

Squall. Never played ff8 but Cloud was too much of a pansy for me to like him.

I think the graphics made him look like a "pansy". I mean even Barret looked weak in that game, but when you look at the art and what the characters should have looked like, you go...hmmm that's a tough guy. I'm not saying agree with me, but the two games had very different graphics, ff8 seems more mature than part 7 (graphic wise). Anyways that's just my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
PS: The real pansy was Zidane, God I hate FF9!!

Man, who would have thought that I would get so many replies to this question, and still it is about dead even right now. This is one of those times that I definetly wish this would have been a poll, but oh well. I value the worded opinion of all you Cloud and Squall fans. I still have to stick with my original say and say Cloud, although there is a lot of dirt on the guy right now and it is getting pretty hard to keep my vote that way. Thanks for replying and definetly keep them coming.

I would have to go with cloud all the way and squall just wouldn't stand a chance with Cloud's Blade Slash and Meteorain techniqes. The Omnislash techniqe is always good for a finish.

Hmm, tough call for me.

Personally, I like Cloud better, but I think Squall would win. Squall with his Lionheart and ultimate weapon, can do as much damage as Omnislash. Plus, Squall can use his Limit Break anytime you want. (Not sure about that one, but I remember I was able to use Final Fantasy VIII Limit Break more then VII.) But that is just my opinion.

You are right about that. I would have to stay with cloud because with all the materia he has, Squall wouldn't stand a chance with the master magic, master summon, master command, final attack revive combo. All these is the ultimate battle stratagy to beat squall.
